My name is Sam, and I empower people to make educated decisions when it comes to their health and wellness.
To understand why, I believe you need to know my story. The why behind the what.
I grew up playing baseball, basketball and soccer at high levels. I was perpetually injured growing up, always out with a pulled this or a strained that, but nothing so serious that I sought help.
Shortly after deciding to focus solely on soccer, my most burning passion, I almost completely tore a tendon around my hip; it took me from playing soccer twenty to thirty hours per week to needing my parents' help putting my socks on every morning.
After exhausting all traditional methods of rehab without lasting success, I began to lose hope. I struggled to come to grips with the fact that I may never do what I love again.
Almost 13 months after my injury, I became aware of a muscle specialist in Bellevue, a Seattle suburb.
7 sessions later, I was back in team training again.
Not only did this muscle specialist get me back on the soccer field far, far sooner than I had hoped, playing my typical twenty hours per week, but by continuing to work with him, I was able to up my playing level beyond what I had thought possible.
With a body that allowed me to do almost whatever I wanted, I was able to elevate my game to the point where I was receiving quite a bit of Division 1 collegiate interest.
But I decided to skip all that. Because I couldn't wait any longer. I needed to start changing lives as soon as possible.
Having been shown that a life of injury and pain was avoidable and within control, I had decided at age 14 that I would dedicate the rest of my life to finding people and giving them their life back. So I went straight into the MAT internship program. And I haven't looked back.
When I receive a phone call and hear that defeated voice saying they have tried everything, or someone walks into my office for the first time with the downtrodden, dejected look of someone who has lost all hope, I don't see a number. I don't see another sucker I can put through my protocol and offload after three months on the dot. I don't see another check from a big insurance company. I don't see just another ACL rehab, just another low back pain complaint, just another surgery recovery.
I see dreams, fears, goals, obstacles, issues, strengths, weaknesses, flaws, knacks, fortitude, struggle, passion, trials, tribulations, potential, success, failure, setbacks, triumph - I see a person.
I see me.
And that's why I get out of bed each morning.
